Well Thought Out Movie & A Kick Flip
Disclaimer:
Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy!

The 48 Hour Film Fest has arrived!!!! I’m ready to try this out - though intimiated by all of its requirements hahaha. Starting bumpers!? Ending credits. When I signed up, I didn’t realize I’d ALSO be taking care of my daughter solo over the same weekend. In addition, I didn’t get any paperwork signed to film around the city - nor really anywhere on not-private property… so my locations will be limited to my house and my ex’s house. I also don’t really want my daughter to be in this either… so it’ll just be a solo movie. This is really setting myself up for some serious constraints. I’m not sure what to expect or what I’ll create - or if it’ll even get “done” - cause, I’m setting myself up with a lot of limitations. But sometimes, that really works!
Why Attend: My goal is to make movies that will play in literal theaters one day soon. And short series. And more. I know it sounds crazy and ambitious, but I think it will happen and I have some great ideas for topics, as I’ve said many times. There’s an idea I have for a reality tv show like “Project Runway” but for teachers/education and having school projects/activities. An idea to help glamorize education and make it cool again. Many ideas like this, with long-term goals in mind. So… this 48 hour film fest is really to challenge myself and just try something surprising. I’m not sure what to expect and how great it’ll even be (for my standards) - but you know… I’d like to try it my best!! And what would make “being allowed to film around Seattle” really make it any better than not? I mean… sure, my initial idea was to make a tourism video of Seattle - but, I can do that next year. Not to be a procrastinator, but really to be realistic. I’d like to make something great one step at a time and there’s plenty on my plate now. So, let’s see how trying a movie again for the first time in like 10 years goes!! :)

Notes from the Event:
This weekend was like a week in a weekend. Really. I did many things and pushed myself hard - while also trying to be the best mom possible (but still respect my goals and dreams). SO… it was a lot this weekend!!
The movie I made in the end was really awesome. It has lots of nice moments and it is kinda surreal I threw it together alongside everything else.
For this blog, I’ll just go through how my weekend was spent. Because it was really a whirlwind. Then… yeah, it’s not as lengthy as normal, but tomorrow I’m going to learn more about EV batteries, then have potentially two more events to attend after that… and then the NEXT day I have three or four events to attend - probably only three. Alongside many meetings.
Just a few weeks ago it was super dull - right? And I was building out my Ai Education for Youth content. That ended up being a great use of time because the platform I work most with… blah blah blah. I don’t even want to get into it. But… it’s cool to see everything working.
I will say one thing… I had been co-running another company for a few years recently. Now I’m taking a break from it (not really “wanted” but “understood” and “now i’m working on other stuff”) and so it’s fun to see this “other stuff” start to build, too - in the way my other company was.
Like, the other company we’d made SO MUCH PROGRESS. But… then it got pause.
So now, here I am kinda finding myself maybe getting closer to that strong feeling too.. but at least this time its my OWN company. Not a shared company. So maybe that’ll give it a little extra stabiltiy and strength.

THE MOVIE OVERALL
On friday I got my daughter from daycare and she was in no mood to travel over 1.5 hours each way to the local movie studio by public transit. I get it. Me too. So, I emailed asking if there was another option - THERE WAS!!! A representative pulled the directions for us remotely and I was assigned my categories/movie overall genre + learned the name of the character + required line.
The required character’s name: Madeline Nutter
I was like, bro.. nutter? eyeroll. But, I kinda roasted this name literally in the movie.
The idea is that she’s a street performer?
Again. Alright hahah. So I jsut danced like how i imagined this ridiculous name in my movie - but kinda making fun of it all. The whole movie was pretty cool. I told a version of my story (though, again, i threw it together very fast and if I could go back, I’d reword some things - like i said, I’ve moved 12 times by graduating college… which isn’t true, I moved 12 times liek a year or two after colalge or three hahah. But, I did move schools a lot. Etc.
Just those small details. But, the vibe/overall of hte movie is pretty great. I just told the story of how I feel really confident about MOASS with out explaining a whole lot of the details. But just how I know that crime has been covering up bankruptcies but, the show is over, people are catching on. And moass is on the way eventually. I just sense it from my history of researching and sorta figuring out spoilers. But lets see. I realyl could be wrong!! And who knows waht MOASS even is/will be?
To me… its just going to be, like, finally the media admitting that GME and such are great companies and also that they’ve been cheating the markets for literal years and manipulating the view on these companies in the mainstream to make them seem like idotic things to like.
You know, it’ll be as the narrative starts to change, that’s moass to me.
My movie was most fun to make with the music - and the Ai. It was fun to make pics with the different tools and animate them.
It was also fun to put the scenes together and build the story. I like how it turned out, and I wasn’t really sure how it would turn out or be told… but I think it’s a pretty cool hodge podge.
Even at the end, I mentioned how I did A LOT of other activities all within this same timeframe. So, jsut like, do your best - but don’t let that stop you and be brave and try things. I wrote it like a letter to the audience, that like, even when i have all these things to do - i still made sure to do this too - and i tried my best. haha. you know? I think more people want to make art but don’t feel brave to try and then also they keep it to themselves. But everyone like edutainment. When its about stuff they are interested in.
THE SEAFOOD FESTIVAL
This event was really cool. I love food, I love seafood! And, most of all, I love to watch skateboarding!! I didn’t even realize there was a big culture here for skateboarding. Because I’d only ever seen one skaterink. But I talked to a guy in the crowd who said that they have lots of events at lots of different parks around the city, so I was surprised and happy to hear it.
My daughter liked it a lot too, which kinda surprised me. Before we got there she said she wants to skate!! But then when we got there she said it looks too scary.
I agree, and I don’t like the idea of hitting your head super hard. Sports in general freak me out - because - i just think our bodies are precious. And I’ve heard/learned a decent amount about concussions and how they can literally alter someone’s personality to make them very angry, for life!! You know. So… idk. I’m always hesitant. BUT I’m IN AWE of people who are skateboarders and so impresed with them - but also pleased when they have good protective gear.
My food was insanely awesome. Scallop tacos. It’s my two favorite things.
It was also so random to see the mayor there. I think it was the mayor. I would have maybeee taken a pic with him (idk though, the last time I saw him he was talking about personality traits based off sleeping positions - making fun of mine! hahah - at a museum charty event) but… he had a lot of body guards around, too! He was back at the kids event of this big festival, too. Just hanging around by the jumping house, etc. But he had a huge crew around and lots of staff, they were just walkign aroudn the library exterior maybe plannign something for the future. No one seemed to recognize him too much, like … you know, it wasn’t like - “omg! there he is” - style… like you’d think!!! Right? I’d think. But… idk. The crowd was so chill, like he just was a normal guy with people standing around him.
It was funny to see him out in real life by mistake/randomly - given like his epicness of this city. It was my third time seeing him. The first was when he talked at christmas time, he talked up on a stage to the crowd. The next, as I said, the kids educational program fundraiser for a museum. A few months ago. So this time, I was like - oh yeah! lol. I’m officially a local?? For recognizing him? I think so. I think so. Now I’ve earned a new badge.
Besides that, there was so much to do. One of my favorite pop/punk bands played on stage by the skatepark, too - which was pretty badass.
PLAY & CONCERT BY THE WATER:
Then two events happened on the second day that I took part of - and I’ll only mention these because they were also tied into my 48 hours.
You see, even before, I realized my 48 hour film wasn’t goign to be 48 hours. More like 4+8 hours at most. So… I worked with it and gave it my best shot. But as I said, my goal was to be a good mom to my daughter most of all.
That means: feed her well, help her sleep well, keep her happy and learning and full of purpose.
This meant that we went to the playground for a long time on the last day - this playground is super far from me too - like 45 minutes walking - each way hahah. But we just played music (“everything everything”) and next thing you know, we’re there! :)
It’s super fun to take her to great parks/playgrounds. Then you can just enjoy the nature/sunshine for hours. I just sit and watch her, the ducks, and soak up the sun/non-technology for a long time. Give my mind time to relax - then get back into hyper work mode! hahaha. Its nice to soak up the sun.
And then she joined me at a concert that I was planning to attend, downtown, by the water.
I got these tickets super earlybird too. They were $50 (so… expensive) but the DAY OF THEY WERE $160 each -for GA! Gimme a break. When I managed concert venues it was NOT like this. Back in my day.
Originally, she wasn’t supposed to join me - but it worked out just fine. We stayed for a few songs (literally they opened with my FAVORITE SONG) and then we stayed a bit, but then went over and spent time at the best playground on earth. My top 5 favorites for sure, if not one of the best if not the best. It is just such a good location/use of space. This one we hae downtown. So, she and I had a blast there. Then head home.
It was fun and challenging to work on that, balanced with everything. I’ll post the trailer here :)
Until next time, I wish you the motivation and success to search for opportunities around your area. Search and explore: Who is out there giving talks? There are new things happening all of the time.
Find relatable or interesting topics you like and check them out! Maybe even something hosted at a cool venue, if there’s no other reason to go. Let’s see what you can learn and discover not too far from home. 😊
