Last Call for Enron’s First Earnings Call!

🤷‍♀️ ESTIMATED READING TIME: TWENTY EIGHT MINUTES

Disclaimer:
Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy!

Topic: Enron, Earnings Reports, Stock Market, Debut, Energy, Power Grids, Customer Service, Future

One company I’ve been keeping my eyes on? Enron!! Me, as a modern lady in my 30’s, I hardly know what Enron is… it’s before my time. The scandals (?). I wasn’t tuned into this type of stuff back then - hardly am now. But, looking at it with newbie eyes - hearing the reports on them in the way I have… something here sounds a little too familiar to other things I’ve been obsessed with. So, idk. Why not attend their first earnings call in 20 years to see what they’ve got to say!!! Just the other week I attended ComputerShare’s random update about EDGAR system updates - which was pretty awesome… so, this is that same vibe. Cool? Energetic?? Great!!

Why Attend: BYOP: Bring Your Own Power… for businesses to succeed in the future of today’s economy, they need to literally supply their own energy. What!? How!? Yeah. Exactly. The energy grid is in FULL DEMAND, so to compete, you gotta be prepared. Now… I have a theory that one of my favorito companios is going to team up with Enron somehow - then bop to the top nonstop. But… let’s see. I don’t want to get too into that right here… tied to their SEO and all. 😂. Let’s watch that play out - but, in short, some people say, “2008 was never resolved” - and so I’m like… “alright, what’s that going to mean? if it’s true…”. IDK!!! Let’s see —- and with that - let’s begin!!

Overall Event Ratings: Venue (5/5), Food (NA), Speaker Content (5/5), Networking (3/5), Likeliness To Return (5/5)

Also, I like how they have a typo in the name of this meeting. Q3… this is for Q2, right?

Notes from the Event -

  • Okay… just a heads up. This was surreal. It was like real life but it felt like not real. For an earnings call. So… below are my notes. I’m not sure I quoted everything correctly. It was as beautifully chaotic as it seems.

    • It reminded me, now that I write about it - of a time I went to an improvised theater show… but I had no clue the whole show was improvised until the end. And the entire time I had been wondering why everyone was laughing so hard at the mediocre jokes. Only after, did I realize what an INCREDIBLE show i’d just seen..

  • They show up a little late

    • OMG the host

  • She’s recorded from the White House, pentagon, and space launches.

    • This is more than an update, this is historic.  Their last was 2001 - this is the first time in 24 years.

  • Sharing financial, strategy, and renewed vision.

  • Much has changed but not Enron’s commitment to thinking, market leadership, and energy innovation.

    • Marks a pivotal moment…. Discipline... a new partnership with Lockheed Martin. … next generation infrastructure.

  • Commercial and defense applications in the years to come.

  • Today is highlights, financial outlook… navigating global energy landscape.

  • Walk through numbers and unpack developments… offer insights about value creation and responsible growth in energy for all.

    • OMG then there is clapping in the background and then even she starts clapping!! You realize she’s in a live room hahaha. Omg

  • Okay nuclear scientists, general council, members of their team, VP of energy services.  Their CEO - omggg hahaha so many people.

    • Okay now the CEO is up and saying hey - so good to be here.  Thanks for joining.  It’s historic at Enron.  The most historic events in the 40 year history, what they’ve been through to now.

  • Honored to be the CEO.  Legendary history.  Some good, some bad. That’s fine, that’s real.  Enron’s name always carried weight.  We dont’ run from that - we embrace it.  What we’re doing now and building, that’s the most exciting and most important thing that’s been done in America, especially corporate in quite a long time.  I’m excited and one thing that I wanted to talk about, you know, address - is some people call us a (??) company - they sy, “you can’t Brin git back.  That name is toxic.  Well we did - we did bring it back and now everyone wants to be a part of it.

    • I get DM’s and messages asking how to be a part.  Those of you who think it’s a joke, take another look.  We’re not a name, we’re a force.  I came to this company as a leader with one vision.  To cut the noise, build real products - to return power to the people literally with our enron egg.  And do it all with speed, precision, and style.  Don’t waste time.

      • It’s true - i asked them to send over an Enron sponsored worksheet for PNW Eastside Kids/Family Climate Week… nothing. 🙄

  • Our momentum is real, undeniable - hahah. We want to bring power back to the people.

    • Omg I’m like POWER TO THE PEOPLE?!?!?!?!? Thats GameStop’s slogan. basically.

  • It’s a signal that the old way is over. I just delivered an egg today.  That’s what it’s about. It’s an opportunity.  We’re not even close to getting started.

    • BTW, I said “we haven’t even started yet” in a post about gmestop today (with parents geeking out over their kids liking pokemon) - so.. yeah, right? hahaha. i think so.

    • The board has trusted me and I’m so thankful for that. It’s going to be a fun night for us.  The first earnings call in 25 years.  Let’s get started.

  • Time is of essence here, says the host - she thanks him and he jumps off

  • Now they have a pilot here?  OMG I realize I didn’t take a pic of the Ceo hahah I forgot. i’ll have to do it later.

  • - cause now he has this guy has a hippo behind him and I’d so noticeable.  But now he’s muted anyway hahaha.  Then he unmuted -a nd then he muted again.  And now they got it!

    • His background is the tina fey book where she has a man’s arm, then anohter book with someone covering up their face, and a gold hippo and some other stuff haha.

  • Maximum tanspareceny.  Q2 is the strength of the foundation.  Up 11% since Q1…. Most notably we finalized the partnership and they’re positioned in defense and aerospace.  They’ll develop scalable microgrid and thermal battery solutions to secure (idk what he said)…

    • Now he muted himself again as he said cheers - hahah

    • Right as he went to cheers them

    • then he unmutes again finally to say parting word: here’s to Enron and the egg - thank you all - then he takes a drink.

  • She says thank you - technical difficulties there.  That’s all good - that is what happens when everything is live.

  • Now they jump over to the VP of energy services.  He’ll provide an update.

    • I like how she was really kind and she made things chill

  • Okay - he’s advised on power supply

    • OMG someone just commented in the chat!??! Can you see who is here?  Hahah omg - lemme see

  • This guy says he’s privilege to be here - omg but now the chat is going crazy and so many people are talking hahaha.
    - hahah now people are asking for an internship, trolling asking the speaker to make love with him - omg they cracked this - OH now the

  • hahah this guy is trying to talk but it’s so distracting cause this chat.  Oaky - he says - what is a rep, what does it do?

  • in a deregulated state like Texas… that’s the company (but I’d hard to hear his audio when he looks away)

  • Our business model - we buy wholesale, but because of our efficiency and tech, we will have lower costs than our competitors, and greater savings for customers.

  • We are getting closer to sell electricity in Texas… we think we’re going to have an answer by the end of this month.

  • It’s important for people on this call to understand the market we are in.  Two points about electricity:

    • Many of our grandparents and great grandparents grew up in houses without electritiy.

    • You can’t do that today because the economy and market has changed.

      • It’s not a luxury, its a necessity

      • True!! And people like to say like, otherwise to gult you a bit sometimes.

    • Electricity is the 3rd largest monthly expense behind rent and food.  Many spaces that’s ahead of your car or your internet or phone.

    • So when we were looking at the market, it tells us a couple of things.

    • If you have a product that is a high demand necessity, and you have increasing costs nad prices… that is a market that is ripe to be disrupted.  That’s what we’re bringing the energy team in to do.

  • It’s important, too, I think, that’s just a macro level.  But look at Texas, why we are starting there.  There is a natural connection, the OG Enron started there.  But more than that, Texas is the largest deregulated electricity market in the nation.  But the numbers are misleading.  In that deregulated market, they’ll say 26M people have the ability to choose hteir electric supplier.  In their home, 94 recommendations, we’re looking to become number 95.

  • Of the 26 million customers, divide that in half, since there is usually more than one customer per household… 7 reps currently in Texas account for more than 10M customers.  That’s 40% of the Texas market that is supposed to be competitive… but only 7 reps serve them… so for us, Enron, that’s not competitive. That’s concentrated.

  • And probably more importantly, when you look at how they’re serving their people - what are they doing to benefit hteir own customer.  Based on our analysis.  What has happened to wholesale over hte past 10, 20 years… what’s happened to retail prices at hte same time?  Wholesale has gone down and retail has not.

    • Fewer companies are passing their costs cuts onto customers.  Som they’re not doing much.

  • I’ll wrap it up with an antecdote.  Do you remember brave hart?  There’s a scene where he leaves the line of battle, he turns to his friends and says (idk)???
    - he wants us, Enron energy, to go pick a fight with every other retail provider in Texas on behalf of hte customers who hurt.  Their electric bill is one of their top 5 expenses.

  • Those are the people we’re going to serve and fight on their behalf.  We may not win over every customer in Texas.  I dont’ have any misconception about that.  But every customer in Texas is going to benefit by having Enron as a competitor.  Even if they’re not at us, we’re going to force their provider to do better by them or they’re going to lose their customer overall

    • EXCELLENT SPEECH

      • the ceo says this and so do i. and it completely rhymes/chimes with the themes of what I like in other companies I’m excited about latley.

    • Tehy all thank him

  • OMG they said they’ll need door knockers to go get people to change energy providers so email us if you’re in teh AREA!?!?!?! Hahahah omg.  Hahahahhahahahah. They’re hiring for this job????

  • A former employee is now on the screen - this older grandpa and he talks about EBITA.  Like I think he used to work there and now he still does.  The EBITA is 8M I think they said.  Cap Expenses were 2.8M including 3.2 for grid related — OMG

  • WIAT WHAT!?  Now this older man is on stage/screen with an ameircan flag taking up the whole screen, and he’s sleeping and he’s wearing oxygen.
    - Some says its a good time to invest in enron? In all gold.  An older guy?  But what?  There was an older man

  • But now they have a guy on stage - and they say he’s in the nuclear lab now… this sounds scripted now

  • he says he’s here 24 hours a day int eh lab and it makes dating hard

  • Don’t talk about that - says the CEO chiming in, after saying hey to him haha

    • omgggg. Dude though, i wonder if they’re hinting at this… the fact that no one even knows how to date anymore. That’s a huge bigger issues or sure. It’s like no where to meet anyone except maybe apps - then reality… but also peopel don’t know how to talk to each other as much, etc. There is really something to this.

  • Okay - Enron is striving to be the number one company in the world, once again.

    • He says we’ve had trouble getting the egg approved by the nuclear regulatory committee

    • Thought the legal team did a great job of addressing the gov terms.

    • They want to provdie safe, clean, reliable energy for the family

The time delay did let them figure criticle bugs in the design

    • But then someone comes and whispers his ear —

    • The water cooling bug - it’s what he’d just been saying - but then someone whispers in his ear and says he has to go

The CEO says “hope he’s alright’

  • Hahah this is so freaking theatrical!! This is liek a new show and like kablam

    • OMG okay now its the guy who’d fallen asleep or something - the guy there earlier

  • They have him there with a nurse they say.  OMG this is like freaking DFV??

  • They say - it’s an earnings call, remember?  Omg but they’ll check back in on him in a bit/. Whattttt is this!??!!? Hahahah hahaha

  • Okay now another board member.

  • Now they talk about beachfront real esate- this guy is an actor - I think.

    • He says condolences to everyone who is a victim of violence and political upheaval across the world

    • Violence is never the answer.

    • (He mutes himself. Then unmutes)
      - we have to communicate

    • We need to exert empathy.  Show understanding.  These are the cornerstones of the Enron company.  We can all agree wit that

    • - he mutes himself again.

    • OMG now the grandpa that had the oxygen mask is back on again -

    • They say the silver lining is gold. Gold is the silver lining.  The gold has risen 3% during the conflicts in June.  It’s a significant investment in our employee 401 package.   Right con?

      • - he says this is inappropriate, teh CEO says

    • He says, no, we’re doing the happy dance since the trends started to show

    • Then someone says- this is an earnings call. This is inappropriate. Yeah.

    • Thanks bob

    • Then the boot him.

Now it’s time to inject a little heart into the meeting.  Recognize “Enron cares” - outreach, friends of big bear valley.  FOBBV - helping at risk animal populations restoring habitats destroyed by

    • Lolll llll lemme show you my ffirrnes Jackie and shadowww hahahaha

    • Omg Jackie and shadow are tiny eggs

    • Hahahaha they’re just eggs on a screen like a livestream in a nest

    • Cute.

    • “That’s nature for you, folks”

    • We’ll keep an eye on teh love birds, check up on them later

Okay now is the general counsel.  He looks legit but also in character hahah

  • He asks, “if it’s on.  Can I bill for this,” he asks. “Oh.  Well.”

“Thank you. Host.  Happy to take the opportunity to talk about really a legal landmark int he memorandum we’ve recently filed in the court - this articulates what we belive is the unsailabel”

    — okay hahahahahahhhhaha - so he’s just talking super legalese hahaha like super- I’ll just list the words he says

    • Justification of egg deployment

    • Envoke consist

    • Statutory extenptions

    • Egg is beyond regulatory

Omg old man goes in again, interrupting the broadcast with the noise from his oxygen machine and this american flagggggggggg hhhahahahaha

    • Grounded in truly American narrative

    • Sanctiy of American home

    • Resonates with public, press, courts

    • Enron asserts each private residence…

    • Self governing grid independent legally distinct from federal energy regime

    • Untethered and immune to federal oversight

    • Supported by compelling

    • Meticulously crafter to align with American

    • Extremely powerful document from legal perspective as good as you can get

    • Transcends energy - bold kinetic work of art

    • Sculptural protest

    • Cultural art artifact, instantly recongnizable as a bold act of defiance.  It’s appeal lies in that defiance

    • Any regulator is a direct attack on

    • OMG WHAT HE IS SAYING IS INSANE HAHHAHAHAHHAHAH. Its amazing

    • It makes me proud to be an American and almost proud to be a lawyer

    • Before I go, highlight someone getting us over the line - then he rounds of applauses someone -

    • Here comes a women.

She’ so proud to be here.  We’re going to file a memorandum in a week to clear up the NRC

  • Thanks to her, thank you all - hahahah omg this is crazy hahahahaha

  • Next up is a guy Steve.  Working in the mines… extracting magnets and metals.  But he can’t be here - but the internet on his jet isn’t working.

    • The CEO says that

    • She said… oh… oh goodness. Okay.  We’re going to, we’re going to skip him.  Here in spirits

Let’s skip to this.  Enron needs YOUR input
    - ENRON EXECUTIVE ALIGNMENT summit- vp and higher gets together offsite to have authentic relationship0building activities - two weeks difficult to replicate.  Teamwork - it

  • Then they put up a poll for the audienceee

  • and then tehy say hte oxygen is triggering hte microphone - can we turn that down please so we don’t hear it anymore. Thanks - the ceo says this

    • ahhahaha

  • Okay now they’re doing the poll

  •  But legit I don’t even know a few of these places hahahah - so I won’t vote - but they said if you’ve been to these places, let us know in the chat.  If you’re particular on one place put it in teh chat -

  • the results are coming in - lol and she celebrates the votes.  They chose Lake Como.  You can hear clapping in the background.

    • And they seem to be excited- she says, ‘okay, have fun excutive team”

  • Then she says, okay - excuse me- just got something here. (like she has some paper)

  • Then the CEO says, I’m not going to go to lake Como btw - I’d rather go somewhere else, but I’d rather go somewhere else.

  • We can talk about that after the call. I didnt’ know I was unmuted - maybe we can have two trips.

    • whwaaaatttt??? hahahahah

    • Okay sorry everyone, I was just given an announcement to read

    • Let me do this quickly here

    • An update on family member’s health

    • Some of you in marketing department know, Andrea Jefferson had a serious accident and was in rehab for several months.  This was a drain on her income - so if any employees want to donate their paid off time, let your direct team know in writing g

      • This sounds like Andrew Jackson the president IMO. But idk enough about him to know hahaha.

      • The CEO burped

      • Then he said we’re praying for youandrea, we love you

  • Then they show a ranch and event space they went to and had employee games.  A potato sack race.  And tehy know some people realize Randy only had one leg so he had an advantage.

    • Whatttttttt

  • Also they raised 15k at a walk for awareness event.  Congrats to all invovled- she claps.

  • Some man says “that’s awesome” - then they say Randy didnt make that one.

  • Finally, talking about families.

    • - then they say - can you “PLEASE TURN DOWN HIS OXYGEN?”

  • And now they say a new baby was born.  Absolutely adorable she says.  Wow, waht a beautiful family.  Congrats again, great photo

    • (but I’m not even sure it’s a real photo or Ai?)

  • Now they Connor Gaydos children’s hospital.  Art that inspires them?  They’re going to play it

  • The music isn’t working - then people make comments. And these pictures are sorta all awkward.  The music is Mozart.  All of these pics are awkward.  None of these pics are cute. They’re all freaky. And I don’t like a single one.

  • Then the CEO says, “oh shit, I keep thinking I’m unmuted”

    • They’re still having small talk

  • Alright - that was beautiful (she says about the pictures) and before we go, parting words…

  • He unmutes:

    • “Well, first of all, thanks for all the hard work (to the host) - you’ve waited patiently.  Thank you.  Congrats to tom and Bianca - beautiful baby, can’t wait to meet.

  • Sincere thank you. I. See you working hard, workign late.  You’re coming in early.  You’re sacrificing.  Your families are sacrificing.  You hold the future of Enron in your hands.  It’s clear you’re taking it very seriously.  Thank you so much everybody.

  • Can we go to the eagle again?  I think I saw something that looked interesting.  Click over to the eagle again.

  • The power went out in our office - there it is

  • It’s the eagles.  It’s both eagle parts.  OMG that’s amazing - look at those little guys.  They hatched (lol those little birds hatched).

    • so earlier we saw the eggs and now these birds hatched??? These eagles these tiny eagle eggs hatched and their parents are here hahaha omg.

    • Eggron.  Ron.

  • Now the oxygen turned back on and its super loud - she goes, I can’t turn it off… then they have the background music go again

  • Then tehy show Dennis sleeping -

    • but the CEO says - not Dennis - cut to me, cut his feed entirely.  Cut to me.

      • don’t cut his oxygen - someone jokes

  • Um, before we go tonight - pray us out.  Can everyone close their eyes please.  Dear lord thank you sincerely so much for all the blessing you bestow upon us

    • wow!!

  • Very sincerely, thank you for everything.  Thanks for the children at hte hospital. The light of my life and a joy to so many others. The board of directors.  Truthful transparency - a core initiative.  Thank again for blessing us and allowing us to come back and have s second change.  Just like Noah was a second change for hte world with his ark - enron is a second chance for the usa.  Thank you. Amen.

    • I mean, yeah. I’m fighting hard every day for kids to have a better childhood, too. And everyone to have better experiences here on earth!!

  • Thanks everybody.  Bye.

  • Good meeting guys.  Bye.

  • Okay.  Now the girl is jsut still on screen.  The host.

  • Then they cut to the guy sleeping in front of hte American flag

  • Then they say Elaina you did a good job, nice work.

  • How is Dennis. He’s okay.  Is Dennis okay?  Can anyone hear me?

  • And now they get back on these green and they check if Dennis is okay.

  • The chat is just talking about how is he doing.  Lol - he’s breathing

    • Lol this is so funn y-

  • they say good to see you my friend -

  • But then it ends right as they’re all waving to him.

Overall Event Reviews Elaborated -

Venue (5/5) - it couldn’t have been better/pulled off anywhere but a theater stage or zoom

Food (NA) - just was at home and idk even if i had anything to eat or drink. I was mesmerized by this

Speaker Content (4.5/5) - it was good but I wish the kids drawings weren’t so off-putting (now that I am wrapping up this blog, I notice they stand out). I’m not sure the goal of that. But, besides that - WOW. I mean, so much they said was true, strong, amazing… liek raising the standards of eveyones experience. Its the exact business model I hear others getting behind. Customer service and customer delight will be king again. I can’t wait!

Networking (4/5) - hahahha. I mean… for an earnings call… you could chat with peopel and see who was there… just by chatting. But you could also stay anonymous too - so that was cool and surprising.

Likeliness to Return (5/5) - obviously!!! hahahahah Earnings Calls have been TURNED UP from here on out. That was a PERFORMANCE SHOW hahahahhaha.

Until next time, I wish you the motivation and success to search for opportunities around your area. Search and explore: Who is out there giving talks? There are new things happening all of the time.

Find relatable or interesting topics you like and check them out! Maybe even something hosted at a cool venue, if there’s no other reason to go. Let’s see what you can learn and discover not too far from home. 😊
