Mural Festival + Kids Activities Downtown
Disclaimer: Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy!

I was invited to an event over the weekend and thought “why not check it out?” cause I love downtown and love things to do. Often events have live music, activities, and all sorts of surprises. Especially art themed events, those shoudl have some cool activites too, so we headed downtown and just planned to spend the whole day there. We also had been there the night before, trying to attend a little extra of the event, but when we saw that nothing was still going on, we ran into something else that was equally (maybe even MORE fun). Stay tuned!!
Why Attend: One of my huge ideas is to implement the “reverse pastel theory” and I even think events like this (or the idea of this) could make it happen. I wasn’t going to go to this event until I was personally invited. Just, I don’t love a lot of the art downtown and I had a feeling I wasn’t going to like much of waht they were making - when I saw this advertised all over teh city. However, as I said, a really nice lady invited me to this (and then I saw her there lady and she continued to be so sweet) and I just thought, why not!! I’m sure it’ll be fun. especially ifthey have a whole kids section planned with activities. So we visited, and yeah! It was pretty cool + there is so mcuh to do downtown. We had an amazing weekend. Notes from the Event(s)
- this is a classic event where I didn’t take many notes cause I was just living it. so let’s do TOP 8 Great (or memorable) things:
the new playground at the waterfront is epic and popular and amazing. good work, city. It’s such a fun waterfront now and ever expanding
the festival was alright - some fun things to do. you could even DIY spraypainting. They had stuff like coloring pages, draw your own chalk, write poems, decorate your own butterfly, write your fears and wash them away, etc.
There was a band playing the night before - we ran into a super fun “block party” doing all 80s and 90s band music and I surprisingly LOVED it. Like it was super fun, even though their outfits weren’t my favorite at all.
The band that played at the art festival was put in the weirdest spot. The stage was. like it was at the beginning of everything and turned away from everything, so to watch the musci or hear the musci you were separate from anything else.
they had a strange raffle (just strange cause idk, just felt random) and the tickets were $5 each, that’s so mch. $2 tickets is better. Then pepole buy more.
There was a fun section we spent a lot of time at with music and hula hoops and things to dance around with. It was fun to enjoy the music and sunshine
There are so many amazing playgroudns downtwon, for real. But some dumb ones, too, as I said recently.
The art and soem of the shops were really not my style. And I look forward to the future where maybe somehow I can inspire some art - too. Make room for me, okay? :)
more soon…
Until next time, I wish you the motivation and success to search for opportunities around your area. Search and explore: Who is out there giving talks? There are new things happening all of the time.
