Booth Girl Begins

Disclaimer: Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy.

It’s my first time hosting a Kelly Tutors table at an event!! Let’s go. I was offered a free booth at a family-friendly event at a school, so I’ve printed a banner, got an on-brand towel pretending to be a table cloth. I’ve got books printed, signs and info galore, stickers, a dress, and let’s friggin’ do this. Let’s see if I can get some clients out of this event. Educate, have fun - and live a little, ya know? :)

Why Attend: This is an event at a nearby city’s elementary school and IDK how they know who I am, but they’ve offered me a table at THIS week’s event and NEXT week’s event. These days - my goals are to increase my enrollment for classes, as I build out my edutainment software with a train theme. Can you figure out the name? :) It’s still top secret but, its not THAT secret once I annouce it. I told someone the name of it yesterday and they rolled their eyes over its dorkiness. But I’m like - brah!! It works for my demographic. And kids love trains. And parents. So get outta’ here :)

Notes from the Event

I have so little to say because very few people showed up. Yet those who did all took my cards. I realized that my elevator pitch isn’t perfected, and yeah. I’ll be back again next week. Met some nice people, but only like 10 people showed up - many were related to other vendors… and it was a kinda dull 4 hours - though I did spend time folding my little booklets and making them amazing. I have 3 more tables to host in the next 2 weeks, so I’m sure those will go better as I keep practicing… and gotta figure out my pitches. And maybe I’ll set up my table differently next time too :)

  • was a good time

  • I made a sale… gave out like 20 business cards, and yeah. Not bad, not great.

Oh yeah - and when I arrived there, it was hard to find. The front door of the elementary school was legit open, but it wasn’t here hahaha. So I had to walk around the back cause it was, like, off to the side through a random entrance. There were no signs or anything.

  • and I randomly got the email from the organizer to be a table there…. though he hardly ever replied. So, it was just easygoing vibes. Once I told him I’d go he just replied back with a 🎉 emoji. No instructions beyond that hahaha.

Other vendors were, like, artists, a financial advisor, someone selling a law service, etc. Random things.

`Until next time, I wish you the motivation and success to search for opportunities around your area. Search and explore: Who is out there giving talks? There are new things happening all of the time.

Find relatable or interesting topics you like and check them out! Maybe even something hosted at a cool venue, if there’s no other reason to go. Let’s see what you can learn and discover not too far from home. 😊
