Broadcasting and Podcasting
Disclaimer: Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy.

This was an event I’d forgotten the theme until the moment I arrived, but then I was like, oh yeah!! Amazing: Broadcasting! And media/video/content production. Absolutely useful to me - even more so as more of my dreams/ideas come true. But for now, this is great to learn about.
Why Attend: I’ve said it a thousand times - i want to influence media, edutainment, and even make my reality tv show to glamorize education, “Project Project”. I added a “search bar” to my website lately, so jsut go search for “project project” and you’ll see me write about it hahaha. omg. Lazy, crazy, and amazing. Let’s get started

Notes from the Event:
When I arrived out front, a car hit/ran over the “valet parking” sign. lol. Kinda random but then I walked in.
mostly I walked around and talked to people (selling data storage, cameras, systems, so much tech stuff) and learned about cloud hosting and AI indexing/tagging. Fantastic. I did this to my own website over the past few days, too - thoguh I had to manually add in LOTS OF METADATA AND TAGS to 260+ blogs omg.
So here are my notes for the rest of it - though I walked aroudn and talked, not taking notes A LOT:
I’m blown away and awestruck. This event really is taking me by surprise upon arrival. Such a beautiful atmosphere and so much cool recording/broadcasting tech. Apparently they’re even giving out webcams at one table too! I’m gonna get myself calm hahahaha it’s just really cool and intimidating, to be honest. And then lunch is soon. Then some speeches. I’m hyped to be here. I didn’t expect it to be their amazing.
I was so excited for this talk, but I didn’t read the last word of this seminar: How to launch a successful podcast… studio. NO. lol. I want to learn about launching a PODCAST. geeze.
Emcee - you gotta hear from me a little bit longer. Apologizing
Technical understanding is higher in seattle than most cities. A lot of things to consider when building a studio, not everything.
You know how t choose the right microphone
How many people on mic? How many on camera? How is your lighting? Sticks or mounted to the wall for audio?
How do you mount things to the wall when you’re renting? Or drop ceilings that can’t handle much weight?
Do you need a permit to hang things from the wall?
If you’re controlling the show while not engaged int he moment, it detracts from the story
This happened to me when I was on a podcast, he was just pushing buttons the whole time while I was talking and it was super awkward and just shitty.
And then he was really creepily hitting on me the net time when I went back on. It was not good. Touching the bottom of my dress after we were done and I was freaked out. Cause we were just alone together. I literally was sobbing when I left. Just felt so violated. Sobbing on the sidewalk, walking home. Cause I thought he found me interesting, but he was just faking it and being manipulative.
This guy is talking so much about like tools and buttons and “birddog 4ktz cameras” stuff like that. Zooming in, pan left, tilt up and down. You can build this functionality into your automation plan.
Two room setup with creative talent in one room dn next to it is the audio gear
This is like how I worked in Shanghai. OMG hahahah and I used to take a lot of selfies in those rooms and then they’d be like - okay, let’s focus on this
I used to do so much VoiceOver and singing for those companies.
OMG this is super uninteresting to me. It just so niche. I wish it was about how to host a good podcast, not a podcast studio.
Te cameras are really cool, thoyoure’ super tiny and use AI to track speech or movement.
Will you have a video podcast?
- manual or PTZ
If audio only, it can limit you to marketing. Studies have shown when you’re on social media, motion resonates more.
Audio can limit you
You can only do so many posters - peopel identify more with faces and action.
Also I’m remembing now - yes! I got a web cam. This is AMAZING and helpful for my classes. I jsut need to get a translator for accepting a USB camera an Ethen I can use it for recording. I’m so happy. I should oder that rihgt now. USBC to usb or something like that. I’ll go order that now while this guy talks - or I can go to target. Actually, I needed to go to target. So maybe I go do that in a bit. I wanna go socialize a bit. I think I’ll go sozcialize and talk to more tables - and then go to target and then I have another event tonight.
But I’m learning a lot at this event about data storage - which is what I want to do with my with my app I’m building. My amazingly named app.
This woman on stage now talks about how she’s doing her own podcast, a daily morning show podcast, and such. She works for the local sports team. She talks down about herself a lot.
Twice a week is the livestream and then the daily morning show - audio only first. Did it cause they knew the could grow after hat.
People can comment on podcasts with Spotify using “megaphone,” and you can postpone.
White backgrounds and LED lighting is terrible on video
Recently, one group did a podcast on the lite rail. So much is just getting the show done and putting content out there.
So why podcasts?
The easy answer is that through different part of our lives there is a difference reason: to practice doing a show together
Then working on one to talk to small business owners who had day jobs but were doing something that they loved (passion project) - fun to hear stories and give them a platform
Who wants to listen to 9+ minutes of ads when driving and listening to the radio? No one.
So what if we can give a morning commute show that has no commercials?
true. people’s time is valuable hahah and my blogs are so long. but longform. for the certain crowd.
Deep down, something you feel a personal connection to.
I wonder if people are finding this useful. So many people don’t seem to be paying attention in the audience - and how many people are actually building podcast studios, be honest? I will go now and go talk to random tables. And leave. I have another event this evening that I’m looking forward to. An AI meetup/networking event
btw I attended it, didn’t take any notes really - just didn’t want to, but they invited to me to speak at their next event next month. Let’s see!! I may.
Though it was a bit hard to find and the door was like not at the address it said and the address it said it was at was by a freaky creepy dumpster and gate that me and one girl almost tried to get into then we walked all around forever and finally found it.
And i literally was writing to the event hosts in the app like - you guys need to explain this better, its so creepy by this dumpster lol.
Until next time, I wish you the motivation and success to search for opportunities around your area. Search and explore: Who is out there giving talks? There are new things happening all of the time.
Find relatable or interesting topics you like and check them out! Maybe even something hosted at a cool venue, if there’s no other reason to go. Let’s see what you can learn and discover not too far from home. 😊
