Making Memes with Clay AI

Disclaimer: Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy.

We’re heading back to the most exclusive AI venue in town. This place always has a line, a waitlist, and a lot of knowledge on AI. I’m joining an event from what seems to be an AI company with… the ability to make memes? I don’t now much about it and intentionally didn’t research much ahead of time - though… now that I write it, I may. Because I can’t stay the whole time. I’ve gotta leave early to make the departure of a nearby sailboat. Yes - literally. The two events are right next store. Originally I’d be staying for the whole time for this meme-making event, but the invitation to set sail makes even me, the most not-a-big-fan-of-boats girl wanna give it a try and ride the waves. Let’s see wht we learn here.

Why Attend? My business is all about jokes, fun, and making confusing things easier to understand. I’m building content for kids and families - so memes fit right in. Plus I love “memestocks” according to who you ask - eyerolllll - so of course I like to learn more about memes. But really, as well, I love to learn about different tools, cause pretty much every single time I’ve ever been to a product demo for AI tools… I end up loving their work. Lovable = amazing apps. Reve = amazing images. Mulerun = INCREDIBLE tool for so much. So, let’s see what this “clay” thing does.

Notes from the Event:

Okay - when I search ahead of time, I’m surprised to hear what this company does… cause on their event they promote it as, like, make memes… but it turns out they’re a data collection and sales prospecting tool and “GTM”. (Which is super random cause a in the UK guy messaged me on linkedin today saying he owns a GTM company and wants me to join his group chat…. so, why is this “GTM” phrase popping up in my life so much TODAY? Weird.) And GTM = Go To Market = refers to the strategy a company uses to bring a product or service to customers. In sales/startup contexts it basically means everything involved in finding, reaching, and converting customers: sales, marketing, lead generation, outreach, etc.

  • huh? So they find clients for you?

  • Brah, there’s so much insane stuff these days with business. Like, how are you supposed to keep up with it all??? I guess you’re not - but then that’s the point, too.. You miss out on understanding how the world works around you, and stay ignorant in bliss.

  • Not me, knowledge is power. And I’m trying to fuel my fight.

  • But what? You just outsource part of your business? And why are they advertising memes in this event description? No joke, I’ll show you. ”3:00-3:30 pm: A special presentation of "𝒢𝑜𝓁𝒹𝑒𝓃 𝒟𝑒𝓂𝑜𝓈": Clay-generated memes, music, and more”

    • Okay. Let’s be honest, after doing a little research and rereading some of this, I can see that I leaned a little heavy into the “memes” aspect of this event. But it literally is what got me to attend (yeah right, also the fact they’re demoing new AI and I always want to learn more tools from the creators first hand)

    • ALSO, now that I look at it again, turns out they’ll have free food!! Ha!! So, that rocks. I’ll be honest: I’m a bit hungry

  • Also, also, also - I’m 1000% dressed to impress. I wore one of my best dresses (The dress I wore when meeting Paris Hilton. Yes, THE Paris Hilton.) Cause it feels the most “sailboat savvy”. #sailboatsavvy

And with that - I’m on my way to this event. Currently typing on the Lite Rail… ready for a rant:
- PUBLIC TRANSIT IS 1 MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN HAVING A CAR!!!

  • No TRAFFIC,

  • No distracted driving,

  • INSANELY CHEAP (this costs me $2 round trip),

  • You can WORK/watch movies/videos while getting where you need to go.

  • You get some steps in.

  • It’s nice to be around other people. Gimme a break.

  • Then you just enjoy the weather -

  • Don’t have to worry about stupid parking.

  • Don’t have to pay for CAR INSURANCE

  • Don’t have to deal with angry drivers and road rage

OmG. I’m so glad I sold my car a few years agooooo. :) Really. It takes effort to have no car, I do push my daughter around in a stroller A LOT of the time (and she’ll walk, but some times we travel miles and miles, so its just so convenient to push her - lol at 4yo. Haters gonna hate, but we love it). And yeah. There’s nothing better than selling your car if you live in a public transit decent city. The end.
