Algo-Stalking Memes: Turning Your Online Activity Into A Faux-Personal Sales Grab

Disclaimer: Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy.

We’re heading back to the most exclusive AI venue in town. This place always has a line, a waitlist, and a lot of knowledge on AI. I’m joining an event from what seems to be an AI company with… the ability to make memes? I don’t now much about it and intentionally didn’t research much ahead of time - though… now that I write it, I may. Because I can’t stay the whole time. I’ve gotta leave early to make the departure of a nearby sailboat. Yes - literally. The two events are right next store. Originally I’d be staying for the whole time for this meme-making event, but the invitation to set sail makes even me, the most not-a-big-fan-of-boats girl wanna give it a try and ride the waves. Let’s see wht we learn here.

Why Attend? My business is all about jokes, fun, and making confusing things easier to understand. I’m building content for kids and families - so memes fit right in. Plus I love “memestocks” according to who you ask - eyerolllll - so of course I like to learn more about memes. But really, as well, I love to learn about different tools, cause pretty much every single time I’ve ever been to a product demo for AI tools… I end up loving their work. Lovable = amazing apps. Reve = amazing images. Mulerun = INCREDIBLE tool for so much. So, let’s see what this “clay” thing does.

Notes from the Event:

Okay - when I search ahead of time, I’m surprised to hear what this company does… cause on their event they promote it as, like, make memes… but it turns out they’re a data collection and sales prospecting tool and “GTM”. (Which is super random cause a in the UK guy messaged me on linkedin today saying he owns a GTM company and wants me to join his group chat…. so, why is this “GTM” phrase popping up in my life so much TODAY? Weird.) And GTM = Go To Market = refers to the strategy a company uses to bring a product or service to customers. In sales/startup contexts it basically means everything involved in finding, reaching, and converting customers: sales, marketing, lead generation, outreach, etc.

  • huh? So they find clients for you?

  • Brah, there’s so much insane stuff these days with business. Like, how are you supposed to keep up with it all??? I guess you’re not - but then that’s the point, too.. You miss out on understanding how the world works around you, and stay ignorant in bliss.

  • Not me, knowledge is power. And I’m trying to fuel my fight.

  • But what? You just outsource part of your business? And why are they advertising memes in this event description? No joke, I’ll show you. ”3:00-3:30 pm: A special presentation of "𝒢𝑜𝓁𝒹𝑒𝓃 𝒟𝑒𝓂𝑜𝓈": Clay-generated memes, music, and more”

    • Okay. Let’s be honest, after doing a little research and rereading some of this, I can see that I leaned a little heavy into the “memes” aspect of this event. But it literally is what got me to attend (yeah right, also the fact they’re demoing new AI and I always want to learn more tools from the creators first hand)

    • ALSO, now that I look at it again, turns out they’ll have free food!! Ha!! So, that rocks. I’ll be honest: I’m a bit hungry

  • Also, also, also - I’m 1000% dressed to impress. I wore one of my best dresses (The dress I wore when meeting Paris Hilton. Yes, THE Paris Hilton.) Cause it feels the most “sailboat savvy”. #sailboatsavvy

And with that - I’m on my way to this event. Currently typing on the Lite Rail… ready for a rant:
- PUBLIC TRANSIT IS 1 MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN HAVING A CAR!!!

  • No TRAFFIC,

  • No distracted driving,

  • INSANELY CHEAP (this costs me $2 round trip),

  • You can WORK/watch movies/videos while getting where you need to go.

  • You get some steps in.

  • It’s nice to be around other people. Gimme a break.

  • Then you just enjoy the weather -

  • Don’t have to worry about stupid parking.

  • Don’t have to pay for CAR INSURANCE

  • Don’t have to deal with angry drivers and road rage

OmG. I’m so glad I sold my car a few years agooooo. :) Really. It takes effort to have no car, I do push my daughter around in a stroller A LOT of the time (and she’ll walk, but some times we travel miles and miles, so its just so convenient to push her - lol at 4yo. Haters gonna hate, but we love it). And yeah. There’s nothing better than selling your car if you live in a public transit decent city. The end.

Was on the patio enjoying the sun and almost talking to people, just sat at a table with peopel talking. When suddenly a gust of win flipped over my entire plate. Then suddenly the guy next to me offered to help clean up and get napkins. Then he cleaned it up for me! lol. (and he doesn’t drink, we bonded over that) I think cause I’m dressed so nicely, people treat me with extra respect. 🙌

Then a guy came out to the patio and said the speeches were beginning, so I went inside to listen.

There’s a woman speaking.  This woman looks amazing in her outfit, hair, makeup. Almost 10/10, but she’s wearing pants hahaha.  I’m a pants boycotter. So…. you’re a woman, enjoy it!! Dress up :)

  • I know I’m in Seattle and here more than most places, men can wear skirts/dresses too… so
    -   Okay so let’s start:

When she says she believes in teh tool, she really means it.  That’s the reason she is excited today.  Today is a day you’ll learn firsthand how to use something relatively and learn a lot from the speakers today.  The guest is someone who figure out how to best teach clay.  Never sit still.

This guy has built workflows from a helicopter, sports car, a paraglider, many creative locations. The most adventurous person.  Over 500 businesses and flew here just to be with us today.  Can not think of a better person to think of this.  Welcome.

  • This guy gets on stage who looks like a cool rocker surfer hahahah but he has a necklace that looks liek Jasmine from Aladin.

He starts off and asks for a show of hands, who has ever seen a video of me doing that?  Being in a sportswear, helicopter, etc?  Only. 2 people raise their hands.  One is the lady who just introduced him and another guy is in the front row.

  • He says something random as a reponse to that.

Then he has us stand up, look right, and shake hands with the people to your right, “you’ll thank me later”

  • (but then no one is to my right so I shake hands ith the man behind me. It was awkward hahah.

Everyone has interesting backgrounds and can all learn from each other.  There will be games during the breaks to facilitate hte growth.

  • Some people don’t know what clay is and what it’s for.  Some founders in the room.  Clay helps your team scale any creative growth idea.

LOL and btw his jasmine jewel reminds me that another Disney looking star here. I talked about him before in my blogs about practicing my pitch to the white house. And I think i even talked about him a time before that. LOLL. But I didn’t say hi to him.

  • though a few familiar faces are here in the audience.

So the plan for today is to do golden demos, find your claymate, do live growth hacking, and then Q&A.
- He says he’s very big on energy and he likes to introduce himself at every workshop.  The first video he ever made was making a clay table out of a helicopter in NYC.  He took the video out but its on his linkedin.  He was the first solutions engineer at clay.  He made a lot of demos for big companies.  But what makes him more excited are the creative ways to use Clay.  As a thought partner, creative campaigns.  He’s not interested in (idk what)

  • But here are some of hte places he’s built tables - surfing, jumping off a mountain, surfing, on a farm.  All these videos he’s trying to show creative was of using AI and clay

He asks if we want to watch it - IDK.  But he kinda seems to want to watch the video of him in a helicopter, but then no one says “yes” so he plays 5 seconds of it then stops and says he won’t.

It was him over New York.  Won’t bore you guys with this.  Who here has used clay before.  Raise your hands if you never used clay at all.

  • Some people I know are even raising their hands. Never used it.

Look around, when you guys meet each other ask if you’ve used it before - how is it useful?  Think about the questions most impactful for you as you leave this event.  W’ere building workflows and friendships.

  • He goes, “Got some laughs in the back that was good.”

  • He’s super into like “energy” and “hype” in this talk. He flew in here just for this talk, but, its not so seattle type

Now he wants us to make memes and make a demo.  Scan the QR code.  Okay - I’m here to meme so okay.

Okay so you enter in your linked. It has your domain.  Recent activity, job title, founder, rev ops. Product design, CEO etc.  Previous job title. Past experiences.  Then validate your company domain to make sure the website loads.  Then you can start to classify buckets based on seniority. They target companies with 400+ employees. They can enrich your company.  Which industry, how many employees. How many peoel on your sales team.  Company mission.  Custom waterfalls.  Allow you to stack 10+ data providers to find data points.  Work emails, validate them.  All I had was your linkedin and I’m validating your

Who are you guys trying to target?

OMG my meme is evil kermit :( I dont like that.  That’s triggering on a few levels hahah. How do they pick their memes? He doesn’t explain.

This one girl got her meme and it’s unique to her - says she recently updated her linkedin and got 3 recruiting messages before lunch.

Okay so they make a song for everyone?  So tehy did some memes of everyone - and now they’re showing their memes.

  • This girl’s meme doesn’t make sense to one of the girls.  He doesn’t understand how it came up with this meme.

The mics quit workign and are super chaotic.  And so he just projects.

  • Now it’s playing a song about her - but I still dont’ get what it does.  What, so it writes custom songs about peopel?  And custom memes about them?  And then you use those random personalized things to try to get people to listen to you?  I don’t quite get it.

  • Plus it knows lots of secret info that people were like, uh, how did it know this stuff? When he showed their memes or songs to the audience. Eeks.

Lots of tools can make songs, memes, and videos - this is your oportnty to be creative getting customers.  It also creates images, idk.

  • It knows how many new connections you have, how much you check things. Like SO much its really like unsettling.  I’m just like, who would want a super personalized meme sent to them that is like more than you even tell people.  But geeze. Its that accessible?  But it’s distasteful.

One more demo before we get into it.
- We’ll all get messages later, in about 20 minutes with all of this

  • (BTW - its been 9 hours since this event (I’m writing some of this later that night) NO EMAIL STILL…. to figure out what my freaky stupid evil kermit thing is. eyerolllllll)

They also have speed-to-lead voice agent demo.  And now take our phone off of mute/do not disturb and then scan this QR code. I won’t, I’ll just hear waht other peoples phones say hahah. I’ve scanned a code and was mildly impressed.  But I think I’m realizing that her enthusiasm is a lot

  • Now this girl gets a phone call and its from the AI agent

  • - it says “is this your name” I want to make sure I’m reaching the right person.  Can you hand me to the person who handles outbound sales or rev ops?

  • So, the is a great example of how a bot can call people. Your info is on your website and then AI will call you and then it can handle 12 or more calls at once.  You can get so flexible with all of these tools.  Creating music, creating memes, and even calling people live.  You can use this to qualify leads.

    • So what? You attract clients by sending cyber stalker memes to them? Or songs? This seems like an easy way to say “no”. At least for me? Idk. It’d feel so faux-personal and invasive all at once.

  • Don’t do this to do cold leads, that’s illegal.  But someone submits on your website you can reach out to them very quickly.  Get the transcript, updat your CRM.

That concludes your golden demos.  But now let’s talk about live Growth Hacking.

  • During hte break, go find your same-nicknamed person.  You have a name tag with a nickname on it and you’ll get a prize.  They have polarized cameras.  I picked the nickname “squirrel.”

  • One guy picked the name “spaghetti,” and they both picked it.  Introduce yourself, take a picture together, and get to know each other. Why are you both here at the event?

Then the girl who had the same nickname “squirrel” talks to me. We suddenly find each other as she’s talkign to another lady, but she seems pretty bored/unamused talking to me, and suddenly pulls another guy into the conversation - a guy I know who hosts lots of events. But she talked to him, not realizing i know him too, and just cut me out of the convo a bit. LOL.

  • But he’s a very brooding guy and doesn’t smile often when talkign us? So hard to read.

  • But we have him scratch out his nametag and then change the nickname to match ours, so it says “squirrel” too. Then we have to take a pic together to win free credits with their company.

  • Turns out both of us squirrels also lived a while in Asia, so we agree that next time we run into each other we’ll share stories.

After that, I head out. Though one guy talked to me before, a guy who was at the table with me outside.

  • I told him about Kelly Tutors, and he loves this business so much. My mission and purpose.

  • Though he said that censorship is worse than ever now that Trump is in control. But idk if I agree with him - and I told him that.

  • I feel like there’s a lot of work to be done and slowly, but surely, accountability is coming - especially in the financial markets.

Until next time, I wish you the motivation and success to search for opportunities around your area. Search and explore: Who is out there giving talks? There are new things happening all of the time.

Find relatable or interesting topics you like and check them out! Maybe even something hosted at a cool venue, if there’s no other reason to go. Let’s see what you can learn and discover not too far from home. 😊
