Stairwells, Flapper Wizard of Oz, and Plans for Bangkok

The scene was that I was in a hallway with my daughter and we were around a lot of people packing up to go.  But I have a big bag of stuff with me and I’m glad, cause there are shoes in there, so I put on my black strappy sandals shoes without bothering her too much, cause she also wants my attention.  Also, we’d been playing music, streaming with my phone on a Bluetooth… in the room we’d just been in (the current song was Despacito, which kinda embarrassed me cause I wasn’t sure if people around me even liked that song).  So as we leave, I realize the room we’d been in before, the music will eventually stop as we get far enough away, and so they’re just left with the movie they’d been watching. And I think about that as I leave, how I’m taking the music with me.

Then we start walking towards the elevator, down the hallway, then turn left.  Then my daughter and I are standing at the elevator waiting area, but it’s a different apartment than where I live, and everyone is waiting for the elevator.  Lots of my neighbors I recognize, but over to the left is a stairwell.  So, since its so croweded, she and I decide to take the stairs - cause it is quicker.  I ask her, “Are you okay to take the stairs? “ and she’s like, “Yeah”.

So we agreed to go down the stairs.  It’s like a bit poorer of an apartment than I live in, though cause the walls are hardly chipping with paint, and the stairwells are sorta like in the middle of the stairwell.  And then I can see there’s a bit of a holdup on the stairwell at the bottom-ish, and the stair breaks into three options you can go… one long way to the left and then two short ways in front (so unnecessary for all of that building, lol), cause towards the end my daughter went to the left ahead of me as everyone finally gets to the bottom. But they all lead to the same ending point.  So I take a different one than my daughter and I meet her at the same place, right at the same time.

It also made me realize how stairwells can be dangerous, even as can elevators, in an emergency.  You know? And if there were a fire right now, probably people would be jumping from the stairs, down to the floor, even from really high heights, out of desperation, and that’d be a crazy thing to experience.

Then I ask her if she wants to watch a movie, and she says sure, and right at the bottom of the stairwell is a big movie screen.  Like the whole wall is a movie screen.  But its not that comfortable to watch on cause the stairwell is in the way, but still there are places to sit on the floor and watch, then a doorway that’s open to the outside..  And it’s playing wizard of oz.  But it’s not exactly right cause it’s not the same Wizard of Oz as we all know.  This one the girl, Dorothy, is wearing a flapper dress and before that, we saw the lion on the screen in like a preview for the movie but his eye makeup is really dramatic with two distinct eyeliners and then really well done eye shadows.   And it was like, he wasn’t even a lion, but more a man wearing super flamboyant, dramatic lion makeup - where at first I was like, “What is he? Oh, he’s the lion.” Thinking to myself.

And then the girl who is Dorothy is asian for half a second, but her race suddenly changes. And she has on like a flapper headband around her hair with LONG hair (cause in my mind I knew I sorta liked this movie but not 100%, and her fashion) and she has long black hair coming out from the headband.  So I ask my daughter if she wants to go out to the beach instead of watching this movie and she says sure.

But then suddenly it changes, and I’m not me and my daughter anymore but I’m the character from the movie, but it’s a different movie, and it’s like three people are there.  It’s like the intro to a movie that I’m in, and it’s a couple (a white couple with a blonde wife and an attractive guy who looks like the most recent James Bond) and then this other girl is with them, but she started off as a guy (and I think its the guy we meet later).  The couple and the girl are reading something about history and the guy is from a country in Europe and the history is talking all about how like people were allies and not allies…. and he’s like “what!? let me see this book. cause he’s stunned to learn this history".”  These different countries.  And they have the same situation going on where they’re trying to hurry and not take the elevator and so they go down stairwells instead of the elevator but the stairwells are kinda weird and small in some points.  And the guy goes ahead of the couple, but then at one point goes in this stairwell part where it actually traps him, but he is now a girl, and I become that character. But the husband of the couple is able to help her maneuver her way out.  Cuase it’s like an elevated cage almost she got herself into, but it has these areas at hte top you can easily push and then open it up to get out. Though their whole time walking on the stairs it got more and more weird.

And she’s over there sorta murmuring to herself that she can’t believe her country had been overtaken or allies with one country, just surprised by her own history and it’s part of how she ended up there, cause she was like blown away by the allies/overtaking she didn’t realize..  So, she almost got trapped in like this stairwell cage, but he helped her get out, but she could have figured it out herself too…

Then they realize the stairwell doesn’t work anymore, like, not safely enough, they can’t be sure they won’t end up in more weird dead ends, so they start to walk on the roofs to get back to the beach. And then the couple is like, inspired by a TALL building they see in the distance and say, “let’s go to Bangkok,” and then the girl/me is like, “what? Bangkok”, but then she sees a building in the distance and understands (though only pretends to understand cause I guess a building in the distance must look like an iconic bangkok building).  So the three agree they’re going to Bangkok. Even though they’re only sorta friends.

Their surroundings, from the roof, are almost like a brown, Mykonos but desert-like area, like Tehran or Italy, or the desert town of Zelda. Like it really looks like the most recent James Bond movie I saw, where he walks on roofs in Mexico at the beginning of the movie.

And while they walk on the roofs, it’s like a roof/walkway, and people’s fronts of their houses are there, so they walk by this guy sitting on a lawn chair so casual, and then it goes to his perspective, moments before they walk by him.

And this guy, it felt like I’d seen him earlier, on his own, so thats why I think he was the same guy from earlier (who then transformed into the girl i become, like tehy’re two separate people but also one), he became a new character (the girl) - and it was like a movie setup where you meet different characters and then cut to other characters, so we’d already met him and he’s like a single handsome guy, and then this couple + the single girl walk by him. Cause he’d earlier said to himself, when we saw him on their chair alone, he said he wanted to go to Dubai. As he’s sitting on his lawn chair outside his house looking into the amazing scenery.

And so then he says hello to the couple and the single girl trails behind them a bit and so the cute guy spontaneously says to the single girl as she walks by, “Would you rather go to Austin or Dubai?” (as if whatever she says will inspire him to decide where to go). But she says, “Bangkok,” and he’s like, “Where?” And she says, “Bangkok, Thailand… see you there,” and gives him a smile as she walks away.  So then he’s like, “Hmmm Bangkok, why not?

And then you can see he wrote himself a note, this is later, and its like his travel plans and it says like the plan is to do 2 weeks in Bangkok, 2 walks around the city, 4 bottles of wine.  And at the end of week 1, do a big walk, and at the end of week 2, work on restoring his life in Europe so he can return back to living near his kids.
