Hour You Justifying Your Fee? (Webinar Attendance, Not Whether We Attend Dance)

šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø ESTIMATED READING TIME: FIVE MINUTES

Disclaimer: Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy!

It’s time to get online and find out how much money I’m worth! This is hosted by Dress for Success (a company that has been stepping it up in ā€œeventsā€ lately, and I keep prioritizing them above most others. You’ll see, I’m about to join their leadership program in a week or two, too). Then after learning from their 1 hr online, I’ll have a lot to do and then MAYBEEE go dance again. But, let’s see what my daughter wants to do. And me, too. Regardless, I have a lot going on lately and these blogs can’t take the priority. But at the same time, don’t wanna not write nuthin’ huh?

Why Attend: I am curious to hear how they encourage us to defend our value and hourly pay. For me, this is extremely relevant and helpful. So, I’m grateful for the advice! :)

Overall Event Ratings: venue: 5/5, food: 3/5, speaker content: 3.5/5, networking: 1/5, likeliness to return: 5/5

Notes from the event:

I’m a bit burnt out and doing a million things. (In a good way, but this blog doesn’t need much of my time). I always say I’m an octopus cause I can do up to 8 things at once. This blog is great. But let’s make this one short hahaha. Got classes to make, booklets, songs! Life :) - events to apply for and host!

TLDR: DO RESEARCH and come prepared. Use websites + ai to go into interviews well-informed. And aim high for the sky with wages. Even if you feel its too much money, you’ll for sure come to work happy every day. Happy and hyped to work hard for the money. That’s hard to replace - if you can do the job well too. Its a balance.

And… I could have (and kinda) co-hosted this, cause I contributed so much and felt I had a lot to say on this. I hyped up the audience alongside the host. It was a warm environment.

oh yeah - and they forgot to make time to let us introduce ourselves at hte begininng (though they said they would) so that gave me a sour face a bit. Hence the rating for ā€œnetworkinggg!ā€ sideye.

and, no, I didn’t go to the dancing event tonight. The finale of the year. Way too tired. Goodnight.

Until next time, I wish you the motivation and success to search for opportunities around your area. Search and explore: Who is out there giving talks? There are new things happening all of the time.

Find relatable or interesting topics you like and check them out! Maybe even something hosted at a cool venue, if there’s no other reason to go. Let’s see what you can learn and discover not too far from home. 😊
