The Hero of Holland
In a village by the sea, protected by a wall, a trickle of water began seeping through. Walking home alone, a person noticed, and immediately knew this leak could flood the entire village. Without hesitation, they dashed and stuck a finger against the break, stopping the flow of water. They called out for help, but no one was around. 🙇♀️
Night fell and the air was icy, and their arm ached… but they held, knowing the importance of their action. When it seemed they could not hold one second more, another person finally appeared. 🛡️
Alarm was raised and help soon arrived. The little hero’s unwavering commitment worked.
The Scorpion & The Frog
A scorpion wanted to cross a river but couldn't swim. It asked a nearby frog to carry it across. 🫥
The frog hesitated at first, fearing the scorpion's sting. “You’ll sting me!” said the frog. The scorpion argued how stinging the frog would hurt them both. Make them both drown. “Good point,” agreed the frog, allowing the scorpion to hop on.
Halfway across the water, the scorpion stung the frog, which stunned his body. As they both began to sink, the frog gasped, "Why would you do this?" 🦂
The scorpion, somberly, replied, "It's my nature."
Hercules & The Wagoner
A wagoner was leading his horses along a muddy lane. The team had a fully packed wagon to bring home and enjoy. But it started to rain more and more, soon the wheels sank deep into the mud. He was stuck. No efforts from his horses made a difference. 🐴
As the wagoner stood there, helplessly calling loudly for Hercules’ help, Hercules arrived!
Hercules said to the wagoner: 💪 “Put your shoulder to the wheel, Man, and motivate your horses! Only THEN you may ask Hercules to assist you. If you won’t help yourself, you can’t expect anyone else to do the same.”
