Preparing for Hectic Season in the World of Logistics
Last-minute invite to this Flexport event? Sure!! It’s an event about preparing for peak season of shipping. Just sounds interesting, and why not attend a 30-minute overview?
Why Attend: I’m a Flexport super fan. I have talked about this many, many times. Don’t wanna get into it today - cause, you can just use the search feature at the bottom of my website and friggin see all my theories. For today’s blog - let’s just get into the business.
If you’re here today, you’re ahead of the curve. You know this is a perpetual process, preparing for peak season.
lol he said if you’re in ecommerce blah blah, makes me think Ryan Cohen is listening in too hahahah you never know!!
Literally, you don’t know. You don’t know who is in this chat.
He gives his actual email if you have a specific question.
Love that. This company always has outstanding customer service.
One of the guys here who will be speaking, his name sounds like a genre of music. Mesh lagandwa or something.
The more you read about consumer behavior this year, the more you’ll be confused.
Consumer behavior is hard to predict.
The cost of carrying inventory years-over-year has improved via interest rate drops and reduced tariffs, counterbalanced by increased freight rates.
Marketing: know your consumer and their personas when planning seasonal deals. NRF cites, “The willingness to spend on retail goods has been supported by the retail industry’s laser focus on affordability as well as a durable labor market.”
Plan for uncertain costs: FedEx is the first major carrier to announce its peak season surcharges and continues with surcharges, with a minimum 6.7% increase
Top 20% are spending and seeing year-over-year growth, while the bottom 80% are looking for deals and making more careful choices.
They want to make sure deals are there and get presents for the holiday season.
Are consumers shopping at marketplaces or market expansions?
They’re training staff now around the globe so that they’re ready for peak season.
We’re dependent on carriers to figure out the cutoff dates. We’ll get that in the next few weeks, then get that out to you.
If you have an issue come up, how do you contact customer support? They have a help center page, they have a chat available 10 hours a day, you can submit tickets, and a phone available during US business hours. Also, they’ll have support agents available 7 days a week during the peak season (Nov 16-Jan 1)
brah! Flexport is the gold standard of so much hahaha
