Permission to Fail on Social Media

Disclaimer: Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy!

If you’ve been keeping up with my blogs, you know I recently befriended a guy who can keep up with my communication style - at least a bit. We keep running into each other and talk about purpose, life, divine feminine/masculine energy, integrity, ethics, everything!! He has invited me to his event, his “first speaking event” and I told him - SAY NO MORE! I’m there! I don’t have any idea what the event is about. I don’t even know the title of it, but I like his personality, love attending speeches, and I know it will be worth my time. Plus, I love a good surprise. I told him, it’s like when I just go to a movie and have no idea what to expect. That’s what this will be.

Why Attend: I’ve had a lot of encounters with this guy lately. He even spends lots of time listening to me busk! (Which I have mixed feelings about, hahah) but, I have freetime tomorrow and I love going to events. Also, I love this venue a lot… so it’s just a perfect match. My guess is the talk will be about confidence, social media, and believing in yourself. But, let’s see!

Photo Collage and Commentary:

Notes from the Event:

Boom, baby. I predicted this perfectly. This event was all about social media, being yourself, changing your energy, and growing followers. Actually, SO MUCH of this talk was completely aligned with videos I was watching TODAY. I’ll post the one I just watched today, right here. I’m loving this girls videos lately. I’ve watched like dozens over the past few days.

Okay, let’s get into the notes I took at this event:

Identity shifting, shifting your internal state of being to one that is successful.

  • Omg I just heard a video about this today!

    • (above… but also these below are some more with this same idea, hahaha. It’s just funny how much this all lined up with these videos! I love her lately.)

I also really liked her video about jealousy… if you’re jealous of someone else its likely cause you’re not being the best version of yourself and it’s just making you insecure. So let your jealousy of someone else actually be your motivation to work harder. LOL it just cracked me up and also cracked open my mindset. It’s kinda true… you’re not the same as anyone else and we all have permission to take up space, so just be your best you. Be your hottest hot! :)

OKAY back to the notes:

The energetics of preparing yourself to be a content creator, to be seen.

I’m like, wow this is a super tiny crowd, but everyone else in this city’s loss!  This is extremely useful info for life and social media coming up here. I’m surprised there aren’t more people here!

These guys leading this are super “cool” vibes.  Like rocker cool.  The guy coming up next looks just like my ex-fiance, same vibe.

Thanks everyone for being here.  An honor to host.  They’ve recently launched their business to help people develop their influence.  This is the first class to build influence using video content.

  • His role is, well, his partner has over 100k followers, and he’s got 20k followers himself.  He initially started with fitness content.  He used to be a bodybuilder.  Then stepped away from the fitness social media scene and got into tech.  Stepped out of that, opened up a nightclub, successful for some time.  Felt like Hugh Hefner.

    • lol. idk about that. There’s a lot coming out even about him lately that he’s into literally farming humans and there are tunnels under the mansion. So, idk how much you wanna be like him. But okay.

  • An audience guy spoke up and says he saw him when he was owning a night life and it was the vision he wanted to live out.  That influence is needed for anything you do in life.

  • When I got into the nightlife scene, I struggled with communication.  Talking to DJs, everything.  And saw in others the skills he wanted in himself.  He did that for some time and ended up shutting down the business.

  • Decided to get into podcasting, had a podcast for some time. Then after that went off for a bit, he shut it down.

  • Giving the backstory because throughout his career, not matter how much he worked towards the goals he wanted to get to, the #1 factor that stopped him from getting to that level was his inner identity, his nervous system

    • Bro! I was jsut watching videos on this today

  • He got confidence after 6 months to build courage to put out videos.  But these days he does it daily, sometimes even 24 videos in a day.

  • As he builds this business to help others grow their influence, his focus is to be on the inner mechanics.

Sometimes its difficult to show up as he person you want to be cause of who we were as children.  Even now I’m having difficulty cause of how I was trained as a child.

  • Showing up is hard, it’s very difficult.  When we look at the surface, because we can’t see the internal conflict that peopel are working through, we feel like everyone is on the same playing field.  Just say, “go up there and be confident” but we don’t understand the mechanics, the energies pulling that person, the amount it drains, and limited beliefs.

  • If you grew up in an environment that told you your opinion isn’t valuable, you’re having a tug of war, you’re told not to speak up from the voice in your mind

  • The inner struggle stops people from showing up

We all came here to be the best we can be. To have an effect on the world.  To be the super hero. To change people’s lives. To open hearts. To add value to society.

  • However, it can be difficult for us to get to our full value, our full creative expression

Let’s talk about identity and switching identities.

  • When he and his business partner met, he was given the idea to post content on instagram.  It took him about six months to make his first post.  Those six months had a lot of inner work, getting to know himself, sitting with himself for hours on end to understand who he is.

  • No matter what environment, you see my partner pulling out his camera and talking to thecamera, making a video.  It’s organic, it’s natural.  But for me and for others it’s freaking terrifying.

  • Your reticular activating system, a system in your brain that filters what you see.

  • If you keep repeating to yourself ‘red car’ and go outside you’ll start to notice red cars.  It’s a filtering system.

    • It also scans for threats.  And if you haven’t assumed the identity of the person you want to be, it can be difficult for you to take the first step, take the action to do it as easily as he does it.

    • Long story short, as we build this club, this company, my intention is to create a safe space and coaching program for those of you who want to get started with social media.  To work with you to help you assume the identity of a superstar, an influencer, who isn’t afraid to put their voice and face and opinions out there.  No matter how uncomfortable it is.

  • Iterations will lead to improvements and as I improve and develop my system and see what works, I want to share that with those that are interested.

  • I do believe that social media has created this unique opportunity for a single person to have a real impact on society and the world.

  • Like one guy recently, a few people put out posts on social media

Growing your influence online has a real effect if you’re a person that is interested in social change, more love in the world, interested in building your business, building a community around your business and the things you care about.

  • The reason you haven’t started is because of your inner conflict.

  • - hahah trueeeeee

My intention with this club is to build out a coaching program for individuals that are new to social media, want to get started, but it’s difficult to take the first step.

  • Overcome the fear of being seen.

  • Help people with identity shifting. Help with nervous system regulation, which I’m actively doing right now.  A safe space to be yourself, feel comfortable in the awkwardness.

  • Me, I’m in the chaotic era.  For the first one, it’s a bit messy.  But there aren’t a lot ofpalces out there where ea person just stepping into a new identity, indemnity shefting can have a nurturing environment to make the mistakes and not eel judged.  Feel supported and nurteured and know the peopel around them want to see them succeed.  An intentionality to say “yes”

  • You’re a seed right now and we know waht you can be

Everyone has the potential to be more than we are, but this society we are living in is one of fear rather than love.  It’s my intention to be a champion of that.

  • I’ll finish up by saying, and my partner will blow you guys’ minds.

  • This might be a bit spiritual but you came into this world with purpose.  To help raise the collective consciousness. The amount of love in the world. Now a’days we need it, there’s a lot going on.  We ned more peopel coming from the heart that have a voice to shape the minds of those coming behind us.  To give directions, to hold space.

  • “Social media” has a negative connotation, but step away from labels, and its a ways to access the consciousness of people and shape the collective reality we’re all experiencing at scale.  At scale if you’re an entrepreneur.

    NEXT SPEAKER

One cool thing about social media is that every time, as you do it, you’ll get inspired to do a lot of things for the first time.

  • These guys are so fashionable!  More fashionable than me hahaha.

He has a lot more experience working through awkwardness and exdperiencing it.

  • He hasn’t made a powerpoint in who knows how long.

  • Build a muscle getting comfortable in discomfort.  Getitng comfortable in discomfort is easier than you think.

  • Normally he just does wahtever is off hte top of his head, scripted a couple, but mostly just off the top of his head and thats how he got to 100k followers.

  • There are lots of people here in the live

Succeeding is often removing the barriers that you think you need.

First of all, you don’t need a fancy background.  You don’t need to be any better than you are as well.

  • 14th is a rad party you’re all invited to

    • even me? omg.

  • So let me talk to how I got through my blockages.  How I grew over 100k followers.

  • It could be more than 20 minutes a day, just average.

  • Most of it was doom scrolling, but the 20 minutes a day is you talking.

Now it’s how to grow 10k followers in 20 minutes a day.

  • Why even bother with 20 minutes a day doing this?  Why even bother making a habit of this?  What’s the point?

  • It does a lot of things.

  • 1. Visibility for your project

  • 2. Customers for your business

  • 3. Improve your communication stills

  • 4. Connect with like minds

  • 5. Build a community

  • 6. To know you’re a powerful creator

You have to be comfortable making bad videos to make good videos.  You will get better.

  • I can not tell you the number of amazing people I’ve met, I meet people all over the world.

  • Going to Mexico to go visit an absolutely beautiful woman in a month.

  • How many of us have dreamed if you hadn’t at some point thought that you couldn’t succeed and do this.

  • Also, to make literally everything else in your life more successful. It is a magnifier.

  • You’re likely posting things that will benefit the world, you want to help others.

You’re also going to be hacking the 4th dimension

  • How many of you had an amazing conversation but then realized you need to have that same conversation a million times to make it successful?  No - just go make a video.  Then more than just the people in this room can see it.  You don’t have to keep repeating yourself, it can be repeated forever.

  • His most viral video did 800k views.  The math showed it’d been a crazy number of hours.  Like 273 days is how long it has been watched.  Almost a year of extra time in the world that people have listened to him talk.

Social meida is the first major opportunity to access anyone.

How does he know this?

  • He’s posted 2,000 videos and he’s seen other people, his clients also find great success.  They implement exactly what she’s talking bout and 10x’d her followers.

  • Then another girl he started workign with, when she implemented exactly that, she 15x’d her followers.

  • This next guy never posted, only for his friends.  But actually for new people, now it’s about 8 months later and he has 20k on social media and made $10,000.

  • His other friend he met in Mexico City, he’s made over 6,000 followers in just a month from doing what he’s about to tell us.

These things do work, not everyone sees success.  But the value of consistency is what makes it work.

  • If you wanna see results, liek our earlier speaker had earlier, pay attention.

  • He thought about it for years, 5 years, simply because he was thinking about it.  In a mode of being trapped.  Thinking it won’t be easy.

“If you build it, they will come”

  • The worst mentality of entrepreneurs.  Cause if you build something, put all this effort into it, and no one knows you sell it.  Your friends and family may support it a bit, maybe you help, maybe not.

  • I spent 5 years making years, music, a product, all to go and get about kickstarter.  It’s an amazing product. He shows his lanterns, his amazing product, one of a kind - these amazing lanterns.  But no one had heard of it.

  • He made 10k and 3k were from his mom.

So after that, he spent a lot of time and money that didn’t get close to anything liek what he wanted.

  • His friend makes a lot of money online. He helps business owners make marketing content cause he just flopped his business plan of jade lamps.

  • All the business owners he started working with, they started doing the same thing. Posting consistently what they wanted to be known for.

  • No one had editors, they didn’t make it hard.  You don’t need an editor. The more friction you place between you and making a video, the more you lower your chances to become successful.

Work him up to it, other business owners were making 10’s of thousands of dollars per month.

  • Then he started making videos but there was a bit missing.  It was not too engaging.  But then what helped?  What was hte secret?

  • 1. It doesn’t need to be hard.  Be easy on yourself.  Be willing to make bad videos.  Let it be. Remove the friction. There is nothing stopping you. You don’t need to make it perfect

  • 2. Making content is the biggest ROI you can do.  It can put the fuel in the fire to get you to keep going.

Dozens of time he didnt want to make content, hundreds of times he questioned it but did it anyway.

  • He may be a phone addict.  Probably an hour a day talking on the phone to someone.

  • If you have hte time for a phone call, you have the energy to make content. There doesn’t need to be any difference.

  • He wouldn’t be posting content if it weren’t for his friend.

    • His friend din’t pay him but told him to let content be easy.  You can’t get it wrong, there’s no failure.  A video that sucks?  No one will see it.  You can’t get it wrong.  You just say what you believe , if it’s your truth, it’s okay to share it.  Share what you love, what you enjoy, what you want to talk to people about.

We’re all scared of rejection.  But release the attachment from results-based thinking to process-based thinking.  Explore what happens if you get creative.

  • Exactly like the videos I was watching earlierrrrr

Take the energy of realizing you can’t fail and then you’re ahead if 99% of people. That’s the real energetic secret of being successful.

So he posted for 4 months, 20 minutes a day, and grew 1,300 followers.  After 4 months, saw a ton of videos with the same hook.  Typically beautiful women into astrology, saying “if you’re seeing this on/before this day, this means ____” you’re being chosen, or wahtever.

  • Make eye contact with the camera.

So he tried it.

  • He posted whatever he felt like and one video ripped.  One video grew him 9,000 followers.  Boom!

  • Getting a lot of followers… all videos are not created equally.

If he posted 100 videos in 67 days to get to 10,000. Just 5 videos were responsible for 95% of followers.  1M followers.  Almost 1k over night.  To get a structure to make videos, you need to get comfortable on camera.  If you’re not willing to make bad videos, you’re not willing ot make successful videos.  Even if you sound robotic on camera, get used to it.

  • If you hold the intention and do the inner work, you need to understand why some content does better than others.

You need to learn marketing, how to get interest of something, and convert peopel to do an action and watch your followers go all the way through.  How do you actually speak directly to someone?

  • It needs to be unique, interrupt the patterns.  It needs to feel special to you.  Does it provide value.

Our brains are wired to be tuning things out that are important, or when we see something that is important, we think “is that a threat or a reward”?  Our brains are wired to tune things it.  It’s how we get into addictive scroll mentality.  Till we find something that captures our attention.  Does this help us gain value or avoid a threat?

  • Most of the content as you’re learning these things, while scrolling you’ll see these things in action.

  • Do you speak to the soul of the audience?  When you first started posting and were inconsistent?  It’s’ not really talking to the viewer, it’s about yourself.  No - you need to use “you” language.

I’m manifesting that people in tune with _____ will watch this.  Speak directly to them.  Remove the ego from it of needing to justify yourself, who you are, why you got here.

  • You don’t do this in the hook, you do that after.

Would you listen to your own content?

  • Some of my videos which didn’t do well, well probably they’re not interested.  If you’re not interested in what you’re saying, they won’t be either.

  • TRUE

How do you become the person who posts content that does well?  It’s an identity shift.  No one is born enjoying the skill of talking to the camera.  You have to share what inspires you.  Take on the identity shift of someone who enjoys creating content to be successful.

  • Remove all the friction of creating.  Remove the friction of your idea of posting content and the execution.

It shoudl be obvious.  Right?  To become a content creator you have to post content.  There is no other way. There is no way to get better other than posting content.

  • Learn to love the process of creating, build your digital reflection post by post

  • I wanna pause from typing till something is inspiring.

  • The most you post about it, the more it will be drawn into your life.

  • Follower and views are vanity metrics, but hte real question is if it’s helping you accomplish your goals.

    • How can you use this attention to accomplish your goals.

  • If you want to run a marathon, the guy that runs for fun every day will likely have more success.

    • Good point.

  • As long as you decide you can get better at this skill, you can do it.

  • Get comfortable with posting ,remove the friction and the gap of how you go and get an idea for a video.  The more ideas you can take quickly from an inspiration phase to an execution phase, even if it’s not the best.  If you’re a perfectionist… the person who has made the most successful content, he makes 1.2M/month, he shoots for his videos not to be 100% good but 60% good.

Post when inspired, realize you’re good enough as you are.

  • Everyone here knows something they wish they’d known earlier.  You dont need to be better or a master of something to talk about it.

  • If you know something that can help somebody, you can add value.

His video is just liek the video I watched today! About how you’re limited by the world around you.  Like with the global system.

  • Making a video that is successful that go viral, inviting peopel to work with him

The right angle doesn’t matter, the weird sounds in the background, it doesn’t matter.

  • You need to be unique.

  • Speak directly to someone.  Once you start posting on social media, the opportunities that break into your field will break the matrix.

Trust that the algorithm, using millions and billions of dollars of data, that’ll be sent to the right people.  We need to most valuable content for a version of ourselves or a version of hte world.

  • Wow! Technology has come far, huh?

  • Remove any silences.

  • There are principals but not hard and fast rules.  Follow your inspiration.

Most people scroll your video in the first 3-5 seconds.  But if you put texts to hint at it, poeople will listen to find the reason for you hook.

  • Create intrigue and make it clear why people should watch your video.  Tell them there are 2 things, so they listen to the 2nd thing.  Open loops so people want to know more.

There are spiritual reasons behind this.  It’s not common knowledge… your phone is a black mirror controlling the collective unconscious.

  • Truth in content and business. The more they invest, the more they value it.  Investing with money, attention, time.

How to structure your videos?

  1. Hook: what is the reason someone should watch, say something that disrupts the pattern.  How does this help them find something desirable or avoid something undesirable

    1. It’s like a promise . If you watch this video, this will happen.  Make intrigue.

  2. Intrigue: why is this impactful, what will they accomplish, why should they listen to you, clarify the value of your video.

  3. Body: actually deliver on the promise from the start of the video

  4. CTA: what do you want them to do?  Click a link?  Follow you?  Comment a word?  Always give them something to do.

  • Noticed that if he says, “if you like this kind of stuff, follow me” and it works.   He will get more followers.

Not every person that goes to do your CTA is the idea person, but some of them will be.

  • Remember, all videos will not grow your followers equally.

  • The algos will get to know who you are and what kind of person can benefit from your videos.  Then you will get inspired videos, have fun and make it.  Some videos will go viral.

Respect yourself enough to believe in your videos.  Respect your creativity and your inspiration.

  • Hold yourself to a standard.  By posting videos, you’ll have more experience moving through resistance and posting.  It’ll pay off over time.

The hard part is deciding to do it, realize you’re fine with who you are.

  • Remove the excuses in your mind not to create.

As you develop your skills, you’ll polish them and get better

  • Lol and btw he keeps standing in front of his PPT and so its hard to see it cause he’s like right in the middle so you can’t read everything he wrote

Figure out what peopel similar to you are doing

  • Take inventional action to do the same style

  • Understand content and figure out what will allow you to do videos that will do well.

  • Once you get in the 300 view jail, it may be 2 weeks to 2 months.

You will begin to get clarity on what the market wants from you.  Most videos do 200 views, some 1,000, some 5,000.

  • Viewers want more of what got more views.

Scrolling can be research, but there can be diminishing returns on how much you scroll for research

  • Oh yea, btw, today I got stuck in the elevator by the aquarium for liek 20 minutes haha. With a mom, her two kids, a grandma who was 72 and her service dog.  Luckily I had a kids book on me that the little kid read.  And then they watched videos on the phone.  We all sat on the elevator floor.  Luckily it wasn’t too crowded in there. Thank goodness.

Some people read other peoples’ videos scripts.  Doesn’t appeal to me very much.  It does work.  Just go take the first couple of seconds.

  • You’ll begin to see similar hooks, so if you’re going to steal one thing from other content creators, the hook will be the biggest ROI.

“Is it possible” is a good hook.  What hooks make you watch?  Try it out and watch as some of them to really well.

  • I don’t liek the idea of stealing hooks though. I’d rather challenge myself to make my own hooks

Remove hte fear, the discomfort around creating.  Develop an actual skill.  Then get data on what the market desires and what is helpful for people.

  • Who are you?

  • What do you want to make?

  • What kinds of peopel resonate with your videos?

    • This does sound interesting

One of her clients figured out that her followers all had 9-5 jobs, then she taught them how to un-fuck their weeks.

  • What type of person is watching?  How can I serve them?

  • You input all this service to the world, try to help the world as much as you can.  Then the world will see they help, help, help, how can we pay them back?

  • If you want to make 3,000/week, it’s helpful to have something that costs $3,000.

You realize the only difference between you and content creators are certain things.  Certain visuals, ways of being, text hooks.  Tehre’s nothing inherently different about them than you.

As you pick up what works for them, you will be successful too. It’s like learning to bake a cake. Figure out how to cook your own cake.  Which elements are best for you?

As long as your are consistent, you will see success.

  • love this.

Last slide:

  • Hold yourself to a standard and start as soon as possible

  • You don’t always know what you’re going to say, just follow your inspiration

  • Figure it out as you go

  • Be unique

  • Realize you can go viral, apply your intention

Will this make you money?

  • Currently doing just this, won’t make money

  • But once you have your audience, yes.  You need to make them an offer.

Once you know how you’re helping peopel, you can make an offer to transform their life one-on-one

  • Brand deals

  • Tik Tok shop

  • A lot of ways to get paid and develop skills

  • But to start, don’t focus on the money.

Your thoughts create your reality.  It can’t harm you if you don’t let it.

Suggest short form before getting into long form.

  • Long form requires more develop skills and what peopel want to see

  • Youtube is the longform platform.

  • Titles and Thumbnails are the most important thing

Ended it asking for live feedback.  Amazing. At the end, the audio/video guy literally asked us, the audience, what they can do better next time? Have music playing before/after? Different lighting - I even told him not to stand in front of the PPT next time. I LOVE this. It shows such confidence, the fact they care, and like… idk. I just love that.

LOL on my way out, at the bottom of the elevator, one of the guys hosting the event was letting in a BUNCH of people, like a bunch of girls all coming up on the elevator for antoher event? no idea. hahaha. But, I went home.

  • Though I did get invited to the party… its in one and a half weeks and it’s a 24 hour party!!! LOL. Wow. Never went to one of those. I’ll write about it :). See you then. And tomorrow! I’ve got one or two events tomorrrow.

Oh yeah, and today I went to spend time at the skate park again. Just to watch. ONE OF THE GUYS even offered me to borrow his skateboard! LOL but I was like, oh, no hahah I’m just here to watch. You guys are amazing.

:)

Until next time, I wish you the motivation and success to search for opportunities around your area. Search and explore: Who is out there giving talks? There are new things happening all of the time.

Find relatable or interesting topics you like and check them out! Maybe even something hosted at a cool venue, if there’s no other reason to go. Let’s see what you can learn and discover not too far from home. 😊
