Feedback from Founders on My Business SO FAR.

Disclaimer: Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy.

Alright, this blog is mostly for my business advisor and me. To break down everything I was told about my business in a room full of founders last night. It’s capturing the current state. The weaknesses. The opportunities. The ideas. Blah blah blah.

Why Attend: I wanted to attend this event for the simple question of: how do you think about my distribution method, and how do I make money off this book? Do I put it for free on my website and then let people buy it in hard/softcover, the audiobook, the ebook to download, etc?

PHOTO COLLAGE AND COMMENTARY

NOTES FROM THE EVENT:

At this event, I explained how my focus right now is to get my books as the main focus of Kelly Tutors. How I’m working to build a big media company and for now I’m trying ot figure out how to distribute and how i’m trying to change the standard of kids media. And inspire others, etc.

POINTS FROM THE GROUP:

  1. Reach parents + connect on similar philosophy; find that channel. Find parents who truly believe in this and click.

  2. The books = marketing for toys and products. The books are marketing.

  3. Parents appreciate this, so find out from them how much they’d pay. Ask parents and grandparents directly how much they’d pay for each of these.

  4. On social media, share stories for free - youtube?

  5. Sell T-shirts and merch

  6. Have one book for free, buy the others

  7. Use video shorts to grab attention

  8. Advertise my books as party favors for birthday parties

  9. Focus on high-earning parents and that this is premium content

  10. Babysitters and babysitting companies may be good partners

  11. Write a super boring, calm story - fully human-made… even perform it with handmade puppets or something - make it super authentic, embracing all my talents.

  12. Make a bedtime story and have true testimonials from parents saying, “This story put my kids to sleep!” or it’s helping them have peaceful dreams

  13. Parents look at the website and decide within seconds whether to invest more time or not. The website needs the “Hero Image” and needs to grab their attention based on this thesis. Parents need to know why to buy these books instead of any other.

  14. Audio gives depth + breath

  15. Possibly let peopel rent the books

  16. Wrtie a sleep song + book combo

  17. Write the longest book/song combo ever for long plane rides and road trips

  18. Kids sleeping = goldmine

  19. Look into the movie “inside out” because people feel like this is a great movie by Disney (I diagree) - but it says that negative feelings are okay.

  20. The word REWRITTEN. can be replaced with sometihng that explains these books are being reimagined, refined, improved - its a huge opportuntiy to change the name of “Fairy Tales Rewritten” - since “rewritten” doesn’t mean “better” it just means rewritten

  21. Kelly Tutors is a confusing name since peopel assume i’m a tutor, not an author.

  22. Present the “why” of psychology - the hole not the drill.

Until next time, I wish you the motivation and success to search for opportunities around your area. Search and explore: Who is out there giving talks? There are new things happening all of the time.

Find relatable or interesting topics you like and check them out! Maybe even something hosted at a cool venue, if there’s no other reason to go. Let’s see what you can learn and discover not too far from home. 😊
